| If you would like to contribute and join my private rooms....
by: JensYoga Thank you all for being so patient while I try to figure all this stuff out in my very limited 'spare time'. As you can see, I have begun opening private rooms. Currently, both the Experienced and the Beginner's room are open. Both rooms contain 1 warm up session and 1 full practice, including deep relaxation. It is my goal to post a video to at least one room per week. I am hoping to get the chair room up next. Some of you have expressed an interest in contributing and joining in the private rooms. I am so grateful to you, and the opportunity to participate in this technology. So here is my current private room policy: If you are a current student (attending 2 classes/month) access is free and unrestricted. If you are inactive(have not been to a real world class in at least a month) and have classes banked with me that you would like to use, 1 class banked = 1 month of online access to the room of your choice. If you fall into neither of the above categories the recommended contribution is $10/month/room. Payment may be arranged privately with me. I accept Paypal. Sample clips of all of my rooms will be posted regularly on the Open section of this site. These are intended to help you decide which room suits your needs best. Namaste' |

| It's ok to be yourself....
by: JensYoga As with anything, Yoga has it's preconceptions. Often when someone says they are a student of Yoga, the image of a skinny, super-flexible, vegetarian, green-living, modern-hippy is conjured up. For me, I found that to be a little too much pressure. Yes, I'm thin. Yes, I'm flexible (though not super). Yes, I do my best to be kind to mother nature, and some may say I'm a little hippy-ish. That's not all I am though. We are complicated, multi-faceted creatures. That's part of what makes us so interesting and intriguing. I also love to eat bar-b-que, drink alcohol, and listen to pretty hard rock music. I have a conservative side to me, that even surprises me from time to time; and never ask me to go camping. The beauty of this is that it's ok. There is no rule that says if you practice and study Yoga that you can't be complicated. We are ALL complicated. There is also no rule that says you have to be strong or flexible to start. That comes with time. The only prerequisite is that you show up and breath.

| How to Sign-Up for classes...
by: JensYoga As I am as new to this as you, I feel that I should make a post here with a little instruction. If you are interested in finding out about my classes, please click on the bottom left area of the screen that says "Sign up to receive email updates from JensYoga" This will ensure that any new updates will come to your inbox. If you've received this post then you have been added to the email list, either by yourself, or by me. My first class posting will be an introductory class, and it will be free and open to anyone who views this site. As I get my act togeter :-), and get more videos made, I will begin opening the "private studios" and posting classes there. As far as my fees are concerned, I am working on that as well, however if you are a current student of mine in the real world, and hold a valid class pass, your classes on here will be free for every month you hold an active pass. If your pass is inactive, or if I owe you classes, you will get a limited amount of 'private studio' access depending on how many classes you have on your pass. Thanks again for your interest. I look forward to NOT seeing you in class (LOL). Namaste' |

| Jen's Tips for Bringing Your Practice Home - carving out a routine
by: JensYoga Practicing Yoga at home is it's own creature. While every yoga teacher strongly encourages their students to practice at home, in-between classes, many do not. The most common reason is that many people find it hard to muster the self-discipline necessary to do this. Even for us Yoga Teachers, it can be quite a challenge. We are supposed to learn about self-discipline as part of our Yoga studies, and yet, so many of us struggle with home practice. So I've dedicated this little section to offer my tips, strategies, and guidelines for practicing Yoga at home. When we bring our Yoga practice home, the first thing we need to do is change our perception of what Yoga is. When we go to a studio or class, Yoga is mainly a physical practice with spiritual undertones. That is the common approach to Hatha Yoga, spiritual awakening through a physical practice. When we bring Yoga home we have to change our approach to the idea of this. Yoga is in our every breath, our every action, and our every moment of existence. It is such when we live in the present moment, in our own bodies. So that takes alot of pressure off, but this is not license to just let your physical practice go. This is license to let your physical practice become whatever you desire. Yoga is in every moment. When we prescribe to this notion, then a spontaneous physical practice happens often, and without much effort. That being said, at first, effort has to be made to make this shift in consciousness. So as we begin to let ourselves experience Yoga continuously, the best way to bring our physical practice home is to make it consistent and enjoyable. Consistency is the key to bringing anything into our daily routine. So sit down and carve out a time in your daily schedule to practice Yoga. Set aside a little bit of time everyday, it can be as little as 15 minutes, but make it a time when you can do it consistently. This will eventually become as automatic to you as brushing your teeth. Take your practice to a quiet space, maybe your bedroom, or the back porch. Anywhere you can temporarily escape the chaos, and reconnect with yourself. Start off with a little bit of quiet time, and let the physical part follow. Let your body determine what poses are called for, and follow it's lead. It doesn't even have to be poses you've learned in class, just follow and enjoy yourself. Always end with some quiet time, preferrably in deep relaxation. As this practice begins to become routine, you will find it easier and easier to fit Yoga into your busy life. The reason is because a daily Yoga practice helps us to have more energy and focus. We become more productive and less tired with a daily Yoga practice. Soon, you will feel naked if a day goes by without Yoga. You will find ways to work your practice in even when sick, injured, or away from home. You will feel inspired to practice spontaneously, and intuitively. Once you've exprienced this, you will wonder how you ever lived without your home Yoga practice. Namaste' Jennifer Hauserman |
