Join me online as I tour more than 20 Dallas yoga studios!
by: Yoga With Beth
I have recently embarked on a yoga quest in Dallas, and I am blogging my adventures at http://hereandthereyoga.com ..... The purpose of the journey and the blogsite, "Here and There Yoga," is two-fold. Or maybe four-fold. Or perhaps two-fold, folded twice..... I believe there is great yoga out There. “Out there” meaning, in yoga studios across the country — and, in my case in the North Texas area, beginning with Dallas specifically. It is my goal to visit all or most or many of the Dallas yoga studios, to discover their treasures by attending at least five classes at each venue, and to write about what I find........ I also believe there is great yoga in Here. By “in here,” I mean within each individual. The way we perceive the world around us, the way we live with awareness and gratitude, and the way we then shine our inner experiences out to others… that, too, is yoga. And so I also want to record my observations of the yoga I encounter outside of classes, in everyday life....... Thus, the two folds. One: review local yoga classes and studios. Two: deepen my awareness and appreciation of the world around me. Fold that once: I experience it and assimilate it for myself. Then fold it again: I share my adventures with others through my blog..... Yoga here. And yoga there.

Be the change...
by: Yoga With Beth
One of my favorite quotes of all time is Gandhi's advice to "Be the change you wish to see in the world." How often do we complain about something or wait for others to change things? This video -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGyutkBvN2s -- is an utterly beautiful, short and simple lesson about the power of one person, taking action that leads to meaningful change. Never think you cannot or do not make a difference. You absolutely can. And you do.

Music with your yoga...
by: Yoga With Beth
I LOVE practicing yoga with music. Whether it’s Native American flute music, mellow sounds from Enya, devotional chants by Krishna Das, vintage John Lennon, or the latest Radiohead album, music enhances my personal practice. But that’s just me. Some schools of yoga do not advocate incorporating music with asana practice. Some individuals prefer their yoga in silence. Some people like music but only instrumental or only new age but not Sanskrit. It’s rather personal. So, for those reasons, I have recorded my online videos without musical accompaniment. If you like having music in the background with your yoga, I would encourage you to play some of your favorite tunes while practicing the videos. I will be happy to offer suggestions and share some of my playlists, and I would love to know what musical treasures you enjoy for yoga.

Q: What style of yoga do you teach?
by: Yoga With Beth
A: I offer a widely-accessible, mixed level, basic form of Hatha yoga. Through my classes, I want individuals to feel nurtured -- by me, by the yoga, by themselves -- and to feel more physically, mentally, and emotionally empowered to meet life as it comes. My style can be described as an eclectic and practical blend, with Iyengar and Anusara influences. I incorporate some vinyasa flow in my classes, but my approach is always gentle rather than forceful or aggressive. I believe that yoga should be a joyful experience which soothes as it challenges and invigorates as it instructs. It is my intention to share the benefits of yoga with my students in a way which is safe, inspiring, light-hearted, and fun.

Sharing Treasures: Nneka
by: Yoga With Beth
"It's about giving love, showing love, doing love, living love, making love... It's a major issue that we let our spirit down and our mind takes over..." These are lyrics from the first song on the new album CONCRETE JUNGLE, by Nigerian-born musipoetartist, Nneka. I stumbled upon this album on Napster today and felt it was one of those "must share" things -- you know, those treasures life brings you, which you feel compelled to tell all your friends about. If you like Bob Marley, Michael Franti, or Erykah Badu... if the genre description "Gospel/Christian/R&B/Soul/Pop/World/Reggae" sounds intriguing to you... if socially-conscious, personally-responsible, LiveLove-based music is your thing... check out Nneka. Namaste'!

Welcome to "Yoga With Beth" at HarmonysWell
by: Yoga With Beth
What an opportunity! What a gift! When I moved from Wichita, Kansas, to Tyler, Texas, four years ago, my Kansas yoga students and I mourned the loss of our time together. When I moved from Tyler to the Dallas suburbs this past year, I once again grieved leaving behind an extended "yoga family." Throughout these changes my friends and I have talked about how much we wish we could stay in touch via video classes, but I had no idea how to make that a reality. Now along comes HarmonysWell.com to provide just such an opportunity. I am so excited to have discovered this site and so very grateful for their generous and gracious services. I look forward to connecting with student-friends (both new and "old") through my Online Yoga Studio. Over the next few days, I will be revamping my website -- http://yoga-with-beth.com -- and preparing a first video to share within the "Open Studio." You will be able to access this video here for FREE as often as you wish. Please feel welcome to go ahead and add your name to my email list now, and I will let you know as soon as the video and other updates become available. Namaste', Beth
